Real 12 Step Recovery, Getting and Staying Clean and Sober
WELCOME Hi There, this blog will be about what I believe to be REAL RECOVERY not band aids or feel good BS These are the hard cold true facts that I have learned and been taught by OLD TIMERS and People WHO HAVE REMAINED CLEAN and SOBER and "GOT A LIFE".There will be no original thoughts here, Because in essence there are no original thoughts only perhaps originals and/or different ways to present or illustrate old Ideas. Now that this is understood lets get to the heart of the matter. Recovery is not about coddling or enabling. IT IS LIFE CHANGING. PERIOD WELCOME to the hardest thing that you will do in YOUR LIFE. Make no mistake, Real recovery is not EASY, it is simple, very simple, Yet you will make it hard, as all before you have. Also let's get this STRAIGHT right off the top. REAL RECOVERY has nothing to do about ALCOHOL and/or Drugs. IT IS about the way you react to life, your perceptions, and YOUR actions. Alcohol and/or Drugs are just a symptom of YOUR disease. Take notice of the word DISEASE - Which in our case translates to ILL AT EASE or simply not at ease, which is the basic nature of our problem and answer to our solution.Back to why I state that this is the hardest thing you will do. I state this because Real Recovery Will challenge everything you know/believe or really what you think you know, Because you really don't know SHIT or you wouldn't need recovery. It will make you face the truth about your biggest problem YOU and YOUR THINKING. You will face the real you not the one we would like to see with all the justifications and rationalizations just the TRUE YOU.REMEMBER GOD DOES NOT CREATE GARBAGE >>>>>>>> If you have a request or enquiry Please Email me at wiledchild@live.ca I'd like to add one other thing here for all those who read this Blog. It's something that was taught to me That was invaluable to my recovery My Spiritual Advisor Taught me this. Don't believe a word I say , do not take what I say as the truth just because I say it or anybody else, for that matter. Check it out for yourself. Try it on for size. Investigate , find out for YOURSELF only use what you have read or heard as a reference point. Find the truth out for yourself . This way it is your TRUTH not someone else's. You will also not be believing a lie or untruth if you always check things for yourself . Do not believe everything you are told or read without checking it out.

Being Compassionate
As we grow in the program. We learn to be loving, forgiving compassionate individuals. We learn to kind, considerate and compassionate to our brothers and sisters in and out of the program. This is part of spiritual growth, for no matter your faith these are all principles of all the sacred texts. These are the attributes that our God wishes all his children would display.
However there seems to be amongst us a few places when we display these attributes so well. One is the person who has relapsed once or even the one that continually seems to. This person most of all needs our compassion, love, kindness and patience. We mustn’t just shun and look down at this poor soul. We must be kind and considerate remembering “But for the Grace of God. However in the same sentence, I must emphasize that though you must not shun, despise or ignore this unfortunate. You must also guard your attentions. There is being kind and compassionate, however if the unfortunate individual continues on unhealthy ways and resists the way. You must allow them to pursue their path and let go but with love, kindness and compassion. Not contempt and loathing.
The other place we can be less forgiving is with those closest to us, especially family. We tend to take mistakes and/or lapses in judgement personally and as a personal affront and/or reflection of ourselves. Instead of just allowing them their own path of growth. We are sometimes harder on individuals closest to us, than we would others. This in turn just creates a greater separation. We need to allow those closest to us the same latitude for growth that we would grant any other. Perhaps even showing more kindness, compassion and consideration. Without enabling. Remembering in all cases that kindness and compassion does not condone unhealthy or bad behaviour. The action must still be admonished, however lovingly is the difference.
The one other place we tend not to show kindness, tenderness, compassion and patience is with self. Yes we must always judge ourselves A little harder. However this does not mean without mercy and patience. We must always remember we are but human. We must also make allowance for our humanness. This does not mean that our humanness is justification for any wrong doing and/or mistakes. Especially using humanness as an excuse to behave in an untoward manner. It just means that we must remember that we are human and not perfect. Likely never to be perfect.

Happy, Joyous and Free
Hello my fellow aliens. Yes sometimes it feels that we live in a different world than mainstream society. I guess that’s what comes with the territory, when you get a second lease on life. Oh well, not so much of a price to pay for a new life. Anyway the posts have been pretty heady lately. So I believe it is time to discuss an absolute necessity in sobriety, to keep your sanity. And to remain clean and sober. This very important aspect is—that you MUST absolutely have some fun once in awhile. I mean if there is no fun how long would you remain clean and sober and continue this arduous path. Seriously though we need to have fun, it is an absolute necessity. You have to take your inner child out to play once in awhile. Yes in appropriate places and times. There is nothing wrong with being a little nutty once in awhile, in all actuality it is quite healthy. Emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually. So yes it’s ok to play in the puddles. Take your shoes and socks off and play in the mud. Do some finger painting. Dance in the street. Hop to the bus. Have a food fight with your kids and/or spouse. Be a little crazy once in awhile. Give yourself permission. It’s healthy and you’ll feel better. Remember you are not in this world to live up to anyone else’s expectations. There is absolutely nothing wrong with having fun. As long as it’s not at another’s expense and is appropriate place and time. Remember to Live, Love Laugh. We got clean and sober to be JOYOUS, Happy and free.

meditation
Meditation is an important part of a spiritual program. We all know basically how to pray, there are many forms and each has their own preferences. I do not believe that there is really a wrong way to pray. There may be better avenues perhaps and/or methods. Basically in its essence prayer is talking to God. Yet in a spiritual program we are seeking an understanding of, a knowing of God. One way to achieve this is to partake in a conversation with God. Prayer is talking to God however a conversation also requires listening to God. A good Conversation requires active listening. This brings us to meditation. This is listening to God. There are many forms of meditation. I am not going to tell you that one is better than another. Here again it is for you to find what works best for you. However I will state that the skill of learning to be quiet and find that still quiet voice is not the easiest thing. However learning to be still is very rewarding to body , mind and soul.

took one step, began to moan
I can't do this on my own
I took two steps, began to pray,
Restore me, GOD today
I took three steps, gave up my will
Maybe GOD loves me still
I took a fourth, I looked inside
Nothing more would I hide
And on the fifth, I said aloud
I've done some wrong, and I'm not proud
I took six steps, and got prepard
To lose the defects, I was scared
Now I'm at seven, take them away
GOD, for this I do pray
And on eight, the list was long
Amends to make for all the wrong
I took nine steps, put down my pride
Forgiveness asked, I will not hide
Ten steps I take, each day I pray
Make amends, along the way
And on eleven, I pray to know
Each day his will, which way to go
I took twelve steps, I'm like a bird
To others now, I spread the word......
I can't do this on my own
I took two steps, began to pray,
Restore me, GOD today
